I recently played in the Hereford Spectrum Chess Congress (see the Spectrum Chess web site for more details). It was a five round swiss system event, and I (like many others) took a bye in round three (Sat evening), so I actually played four games over the board. I didn’t do very well, scoring only one win out of four.
As I’ve just posted about my liking for the Dutch Defense and in particular the Leningrad System, I think it’s appropriate that my next post should be about a defeat in this system played in this tournament. The game was played in round two, and I (naturally) played black.
In this post I’m just going to give the game, examination of which will be the subject of future posts (probably several of them!).
