Welcome to my chess blog. I am Mark Radford, a UK based club chess player, with a rating equivalent to about 1600 ELO. I’m now making more of an effort to improve my play, and that’s where this blog comes in. Rather than restrict criticism of my moves to just me and Fritz, I thought I’d start a blog and publish my analysis, and maybe get some feedback so both I and others can benefit. Also, as I’m reading books more, I can post my thoughts and comments on them.
I decided on the name Chess Material because of its double meaning – it refers to both the written material on the site, and to chess players calling their pieces and pawns their “material”. I hope you enjoy reading it, and hopefully also contributing your comments to it.
